Integrative Bodywork

Embark on a journey within that combines bodywork, breath and mindful enquiry, to explore the landscapes of mind and body.

1. First Steps: Creating Greater Ease In The Body

The core of Integrative Bodywork is a unique fusion of traditional Thai Bodyworkneuromuscular retraining and modern sports & remedial massage therapy. It differs from other forms of bodywork therapy in that no oils are used and the client remains fully clothed. Treatments are given on a mat or futon as opposed to a couch.

A combination of myofascial manipulation, passive range of movement exercises and stretches are used to treat congestion and fibrous tissue in the muscles and joints, releasing tension and encouraging normal function.

The result is an invigorating ‘workout’ of the soft tissues and joints. Clients report feeling looser, relaxed and energised. Regular treatments can produce many benefits, including:

  • increased flexibility
  • less injury
  • increased energy and feelings of well-being
  • improved recovery and performance

2. Using Breath To Go Deeper

If you also have a sense of how your physical issues might be affected by thoughts and feelings (and vice versa), we can also explore to what extent emotions are playing out through and even embedded in the body. Bringing additional powerful tools into play as needed, Integrative Bodywork can help to unlock and let go of the manifestations of those buried patterns.

One of the ways we can deepen our understanding of this connection is through the breath. By taking conscious control of breathing patterns, it is possible to bring about changes in the nervous system. There are many techniques and each has a specific effect. Breathwork offers a simple and profound means to influence your own health and wellbeing and has been shown to aid with a variety of issues, including: 

  • anxiety (including panic attacks)
  • sleep disturbance
  • hypertension (high blood pressure)
  • asthma
  • athletic performance

… to name but a few.

3. Mindful Enquiry to Bring Understanding

I have a background in multiple therapeutic disciplines spanning several decades. They offer tools to gently explore everyday stress and release what is no longer serving you.

My aim is to act as companion on this journey, facilitating a collaborative and safe space that allows us to explore together with curiosity. This work acts as a lantern, shedding light on and encouraging understanding of the link between breath, body, and emotion. In doing so, it invites an unravelling of the layers that bind emotions to the physical self, creating space for healing and self-discovery.
